Many of you may remember the initial incarnation of Random Planets, and the intrepid poets who dared to take on an—at the time—exciting new form of poetry. While haiku are practically ancient, scifaiku were an experimental form back then, combining science fiction and all of its space-age, other-worldly themes, concepts and topics with the minimalist form of time-honored minimal Japanese poetry.
Since then, science fiction, fantasy and horror have invaded many of the venerable poetic forms that are recognized world-wide and, at Alban Lake Publishing, we have moved with the times. Scifaikuest has continued to grow and flourish these past sixteen years. Originally, we began by publishing scifaiku, much like our ancestor Random Planets, but we have now expanded our criteria of poetry to include over 42 different forms of minimal poetic forms!
Here is a brand-new Random Planets to help us celebrate.
